I’d Still Criticise APC If I Was In Tinubu’s Cabinet, El-Rufai Tells Bwala

Former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai and presidential media adviser Daniel Bwala continued their verbal exchange on Thursday when the ex-governor claimed he would still support the All Progressives Congress (APC) if he were a minister in President Buhari’s cabinet.

El-Rufai addressed a national conference in Abuja on Monday, claiming that the party has turned more toward a one-man show and that he no longer recognizes the APC.

“You cannot afford to have illiterates, semi-illiterates, and cunning people as your leaders. He had criticised the party’s leadership, saying, “This is why we end up with the poor leadership we have today.”

If El-Rufai were a member of the President’s cabinet, Bwala responded on X and claimed that he would not have taken such a position.

He said, “My Senior brother, if you were to be in the government and cabinet, would you have held and expressed the same position? History is replete with examples. It is a government you participated in its formation, that you now want to unseat. Haba Mallam”.

El-Rufai responded to Asiwaju’s presidential aide on X by saying, “I was cabinet minister 22 years ago, and it was obvious that I was not interested in any position in his future government.” Perhaps you have a moral slack when all of you modern-day converts to the Tinubu government raise issues that I never wanted in the first place.

If I had stayed in the Tinubu government, I would have said or done the same about the tragedy that affected the party of which I was the founder and the government that came after it, first in private conversations with the affected, and then publicly if no remedial measures are taken. Check out my 1998 public service record.
