Nicole Samuel revealed she had envisioned starting a family with Ciaran Davies, but instead, they parted ways just four months after leaving the Love Island villa.

In an exclusive interview with The Mirror at the Fake Bake relaunch event yesterday, Love Island’s Nicole opened up about her surprising split from her fellow Islander, Ciaran. While the breakup was hard for her, Nicole revealed that she wasn’t heartbroken – and that she still holds no ill feelings towards him.

Reflecting on their time in the villa, she said: “I feel like when I was in the villa, I thought we were going to get married and have babies, like I was adamant it was marriage. But you know what, when we came out, I think my perspective kind of changed a little bit, we just naturally drifted, naturally wasn’t exactly like we were in the villa so in there yes, I did think it would be a forever thing whereas when we came out, a lot of things changed and it just made sense. ”

The transition from villa life to the real world played a significant role in their breakup. Nicole explained, “You’re in this bubble in the villa, you’ve got no contact with the outside world, you’re just with each other 24/7, whereas when you come out, you’re back in the real world and like real things are going on, real stuff you need to deal with, and I feel like you learn even more stuff about them so it was more just coming back to reality. I feel like we were so compatible in the villa, whereas when we came out maybe not as compatible and that’s just fine, that naturally happened. ”

Despite the split, Nicole emphasised that they remain friends. “We didn’t end things on bad terms, I’m not going through a healing stage because none of us have done anything. We’re still actually good friends, we still get on and we’re still in a situation where it’s not actually bad, we just drifted, we naturally drifted apart. ”

The breakup wasn’t easy, particularly because of the support they received from fans. “I feel like it was hard because of the public eye like we had a lot of support from fans as a couple so I felt like I wasn’t just breaking up with him, I felt like I was breaking up with fans too,” she shared. But Nicole stressed: “Nothing bad happened, it’s just, you come out the villa and it’s like you’re in the real world. ”

Nicole and Ciaran appeared in the 11th series of Love Island last year. The pair, both from Wales, coupled up quickly and remained together throughout the whole process, even saying they loved each other. However, they came in second place, losing to Mimii Ngulube and Josh Oyinsan. Last month, a representative confirmed that Nicole and Ciaran had broken up.
