I Now Feed From Renting Out My House — Buhari

Former President Muhammadu Buhari has accused leaders of focusing on accountability and transparency as their guiding principles while in office, and claims to live off of the money earned from renting out one of his two houses in Kaduna State.

Buhari reaffirmed that because of its complexity, Nigeria was a challenging country to govern and that he did not coerce himself into becoming president.

Prior to the state’s upcoming local government elections, he made the disclosure in Hausa at the All Progressives Congress (APC) caucus meeting held on Saturday at the Government House’s Presidential Banquet Hall.

The former president remarked that the majority of Nigerians were unaware of the administrative difficulties that came with running the nation and instead chose to blame their leaders for their actions both during and after office. Buhari, who was seemingly excited at the meeting, noted that he had only three houses across his native Daura, Katsina State, and Kaduna State, adding that nobody could blackmail him for illicit enrichment while in office.

“Nigeria is a difficult country to govern, but most Nigerians are unaware. Before you find yourself in the country’s administrative position, you won’t be able to comprehend the complex dynamics of leadership and the country as a whole.

I look much better and have better health than I did as the nation’s president. Anyone who has seen me now acknowledges that I now appear better than before.
