Hit singer proposes on stage during duet – but fans cringe as he makes major blunder

Fans were left groping as a singer awkwardly brushed off his pop star partner on stage.

Yurem Rojas, 34, a singer and actor from Mexico, kneed down during a performance with Tay Rodzel. A video of the proposal, which was shared by Tay, showed the pair performing onstage in matching gold outfits. The 35-year-old, real name Taide Rodríguez, continued singing her part as Rojas pulled out a box and showed off the engagement ring to a thrilled audience.

However, it appears that the singer committed a grave error, leaving the audience laughing and the fans groaning. Rojas appears to have dropped the ring on the ground just before the moment’s crucial moment. Soon after, he was spotted laughing both ways.

Luckily, the 34-year-old singer managed to retrieve the ring from the floor and held it aloft in front of the crowd. He then rose again and sang despite not receiving a response from his partner.

Throughout the duration of the performance, Rodzel managed to stay away from Rojas’ gaze before later catching her in his hand. It was an uncomfortable watch as many who saw footage, taken at the 2000’s X Siempre concert last year, couldn’t shake off the memory of the agonising proposal.

After the disastrous proposal, Rodzel did little to make up for the unfortunate circumstance when she did turn to her partner during the song’s climax and put her hands on his shoulders.

Rodzel has since admitted his awkwardness. She told What’s the Jam: “Yurem proposed to me during the show. I couldn’t sing because I was laughing. I got so nervous, I didn’t expect it. You are aware of how challenging it is to control a chuckle when singing!

Fans who said Rojas should leave the singer and “waste his time” weren’t looking at her excitement at the proposal. One user wrote: “If you don’t want him as a husband, don’t waste his time”. Another wrote: “What a shame she doesn’t know how to appreciate the great man Yurem is”.

A third added: “Tell me it’s a joke. If this was real, it would hit poor Yurem hard”. People were left wondering whether the awkward proposal was actually their spouse after watching the clip.

Meanwhile, others weren’t sure whether the proposal was a part of the show or genuine. One added: “So was it a joke or part of the show? Is she his girlfriend? In the end, did she say “yes” to him? Another wrote: “Get out of there, buddy, that’s not where it’s at”.
