Hermoso wants Rubiales conviction to set precedent

After Luis Rubiales was found guilty of kissing the Spain international without her permission during the 2023 World Cup ceremony, Jenni Hermoso hopes an “important precedent” is established.
On Thursday, Spain’s High Court convicted Rubiales of sexual assault for kissing Hermoso, 34, without consent and fined him 10, 800 euros (£8, 942).
Additionally, Rubiales was prohibited from communicating with her for a year and from traveling within a 200-meter radius of Hermoso.
He was found not guilty of coercion allegedly trying to persuade the Tigres striker to declare in public that the kiss was consensual.
The 47-year-old has since resigned from his position as the Spanish football federation’s president, maintaining that the kiss was mutual.
Hermoso, who was speaking for the first time about the conviction, wrote on Instagram: “After all, this will set a significant precedent in a social environment where much work is still to be done.”
Each of the people who have participated in, are, and will continue to participate in this conflict has a special place in my heart.
“And now, it’s over”.
Both Rubiales and Hermoso intend to challenge the decision.
