Katie Price says Harvey is “at risk of a heart attack” due to his health issues.
The former glamour model has opened up about her son’s health struggles and admitted she’s turning to weight loss injections to help Harvey who weighs 28 stone. Harvey, 22, suffers from a rare genetic disorder, Prader-Willi syndrome which she says causes him to always be hungry. Harvey also battles a string of conditions including autism, oppositional defiant disorder, ADHD and septo-optic dysplasia.
Katie, 46, fears her eldest may die if he doesn’t receive any help. In a candid admission, the star has shed light on Harvey’s struggles and hopes that life-saving treatment could help Harvey who she admits is still continuing to gain weight, regardless of what she does. She also revealed that Harvey cannot walk for long as he easily gets out of breath due to his struggles.
“It’s really, really serious and life-changing for Harvey,” Katie said in a new interview. She went on to add: “He’s at risk of a heart attack, and because of his condition, he’s not getting any smaller. He’s putting on weight. It doesn’t matter what we do.” Katie went on to say that Harvey even struggles to put his shoes on without getting into a sweat.

Speaking to The Sun, she added: “It’s because of all the weight, so the doctors are doing it to give him a better, longer life and for his health.” Despite being over the age of 16, Harvey is still being treated at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children. In the past, Katie has tried various food and dieticians to help Harvey and has unfortunately not seen any results.
If the weight loss drugs have any effect, Harvey will be administered the medication on a weekly basis and it will not impact any current medication he is taking. He’ll trial the drug for “at least” one or two years before he will be reassessed to determine whether to increase his dosage.
If it’s successful, Harvey will later undergo an operation to remove any excess skin from his weight loss. Speaking to the publication, This Morning’s resident doctor, Dr Zoe Williams stated that a “recognised” symptom of Prada-Willi syndrome is a “constant insatiable hunger” which is stronger than most people will experience.
She went on to say that managing the weight of those with the condition is almost impossible so it “makes sense” that medical staff will consider weight-loss injections. It comes after Katie opened up about how Harvey deals with the attention he receives from members of the public.
Katie is often praised for how she has brought Harvey up and continuing to be a calm figure in his life. In recent years, he has joined her for various media appearances and night club appearances – often documenting members of the public approaching Harvey to offer their support.
Speaking about the public responses to Harvey, she said on James Phelan’s How To Be Famous podcast: “I cannot go anywhere without someone knowing Harvey. He could be in the barbers and then you’ll get a load of people at the windows watching him get his haircut.
“Because of the way he is the autism, he’s autistic, he’s got ADHD, opposite deficit disorder, behaviour problems, you know he’s got a whole list of things. So it’s funny, if he’s in a bad mood and someone comes up to him, he’ll go ‘Not today please’. Or if someone says ‘I’ll have a picture’, he’ll do a couple and then he goes ‘No more pictures’. Like he just says it.”
