Hamilton continues Ferrari testing in Barcelona
This week at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Lewis Hamilton will test for his new Ferrari team as part of his preparations for the Formula 1 season.
The seven-time champion and team-mate Charles Leclerc both drove a 2023 F1 car at the home of the Spanish Grand Prix on Tuesday.
Following his initial acclimatization run last week at Ferrari’s Fiorano test facility in Italy, Hamilton is gaining more experience with the team.
After 12 years with Mercedes, the team is making every effort to make sure Hamilton is as well-prepared as possible.
As Hamilton and the Ferrari team learn how to work best with others, Riccardo Adami is learning how to work with others and improving his methods.
The 40-year-old drove in the afternoon, taking over the car from Leclerc, who drove the morning session.
The test, which is being conducted behind closed doors, has no further information been disclosed.
Ferrari will likely run for three days in Spain, but only the drivers are allowed to complete three laps.
The 2025 Ferrari will be unveiled on 19 February, when Hamilton and Leclerc will run it briefly at Fiorano.
They then move on to the official pre-season test in Bahrain on 26-28 February.
Hamilton, who has previously only driven Mercedes power-units in Formula One, will need to become familiar with the Ferrari engine’s operating procedures.
The driver controls the cockpit’s large number of F1 engines, which are 1. 6-litre V6 turbo hybrids with sophisticated energy recovery systems and complex control procedures.
