Hairy Biker Dave Myers’ wife announces new tribute to honour him one year after death

Dave Myers’ wife, the star of the Hairy Bikers, has published a new book about their tragic separation after his passing.
Liliana Myers, 58, has penned memoir ‘ Dave and Me, life with and without my Hairy Biker ‘ in a bid to honour the life of the much-loved TV chef, who died aged 66 last February following a two-year battle with the disease.
She stated: “This past year has been incredibly challenging for me on many levels as I announced the new book, which will be released on June 19″! But guess what? By writing Dave’s story, I honored him with all of my creative side. Our story”. Today is the reveal!!! “.
Romanian-born Liliana, who married Dave in 2011, is now preparing for the first anniversary of his passing this Friday.

The hypnotherapist first met the star while he was making a TV series alongside his co-star and best pal Si King, 58, who has written the book’s foreword, in her native country. Before Liliana, known as Lili, moved to the UK to be with him, she was managing a hotel where Dave was staying. The pair continued to communicate via email.
A synopsis of the book, posted on Amazon, says:” Dave Myers lived his life with joy. He always told his wife Lili that, if you were going to do something, you should do it full-heartedly.
Lili dedicates her entire self to creating a celebration of his life and their union, full of the warmth and joy Dave and The Hairy Bikers have brought to their fans throughout their 20-year careers. Lili invites readers to her world by sharing her personal story and professional insights as a grief coach, giving readers a unique perspective on the complexity of loss and the healing process.

Lili recounts their unexpected meeting in 2005, the blossoming of their relationship as pen pals, and the adventures that came along as they forged a life together in the UK. Lili paints a rich tapestry of their life together, with vivid memories like the plaid shirt with a special significance, the shoes that tell a tale of their travels, and the lost wedding ring, which symbolizes their unbreakable bond.
“She describes the joy of their wedding day, the camaraderie of friendships, and the challenges they faced during Dave’s cancer diagnosis, their journey through treatment, and the final days they spent together. This heartfelt memoir is both a reflection on Lili’s profound grief and a reflection on her struggle to accept the unwavering power of love. It honors Dave’s legacy and the impact he had had on a country that cherished him.
” Looking to the future, Lili offers readers a beacon of hope, sharing her coping strategies and the ways she keeps Dave’s memory alive. “

The Hairy Bikers were honored with the Best Food Show award earlier this month at the TV Choice Awards, so this Friday will mark Dave’s first anniversary. On the inaugural Dave Day held there in June of last year, four months after his death, Dave was also posthumously awarded the freedom of his beloved Cumbria, Barrow-in-Furness.
He was honored for his civic pride-promoting efforts and his community service. It came after a 16-mile convoy of 20, 000 bikers, led by Si King, travelled from London to the town earlier the same day.
Dave Day will be held on June 21 for two days, two days after Dave and Me, which Ebury Spotlight is publishing, was officially released. Writing about her pain on Facebook last week, Liliana told pals:” Loss is hard. Having to learn how to live with it is challenging and painful at times, specially around anniversaries.
It will be a year since my beloved husband, Dave Myers, crossed the bridge and made the decision to join the light, as they say next week. He has been there for me throughout the entire year, and I could tell right away that he was there.

“Some days I felt protected by an invisible force, while others I could hear his voice whispering in my ear or feel his hand on my shoulder. He has given me advice on how to do things I never would have imagined, and more is yet to come!
“For that, I will always be grateful. I’m grateful to have had such a wonderful teacher who teaches me how to love, enjoy life, pursue my dreams, and then give back. The greatest gift! Here’s to you, Mr. Myers”!.
Liliana added: “Living on my own I’ve learned a few important lessons that made me stronger. All of a sudden I found myself in a forest with no path, it had disappeared. I felt scared, lonely and there was no direction. I had to make my own way out of the woods.
” When there’s no one to share your concerns, pains fears or demons… own them! Only when you are well-versed in their situation can you help them. Don’t expect saviours to rescue, it’s down to you and your way of dealing with what’s ahead that will see you through. And it’s not entirely about the circumstances you’re in, it’s how you react to them.

“If your lenses through which you’re watching the world are tinted with love, that’s what you’ll get back. Being vulnerable is unavoidable; learning to rebuild a cathedral from rubble is a growing power. Build with love.
” It turns your scars into constellations, your pain into a language of rebirth. I’d tell a big fib because it’s not easy if I told you this was easy. But neither is grieving, anger, doubt, depression, hate or pain. Choose your hard!
“I chose my hard path with love, hope, constructive attitude, doing my best to help others while honouring my past. I had a great teacher”!
