Gunmen Kill Celestial Prophet During Church Service
In the Odo Eran Idiroko region of Ogun State, gunmen shot and killed a 54-year-old prophet from the Celestial Church of Christ’s Eagle Parish.
During a busy Sunday service, the gunmen opened fire on the cleric before fleeing.
In a statement released on Sunday in Abeokuta, the state capital, the police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident.
“On January 19, 2025, around 10: 30 AM, the divisional police officer of Idiroko received a report that someone had been killed at a Celestial Church located along Old Baggage Road, Odo Eran, Idiroko”, she said.

She claimed that when police arrived at the scene, they discovered a 54-year-old man named Yomi Adetula lying face up in a pool of blood, which had strewn across his white celestial attire.
She also confirmed that his body was discovered to be riddled with bullets and that an axe had severed his head to prove that he was indeed dead upon closer inspection.
“During the police investigation, it was revealed that three men entered the church, brandished a long double-barreled gun, aimed at their target, and fired a shot that caused chaos, and the assailant escaped”.
No arrests have been made, she claimed, but she maintained that the police are actively pursuing the arrest of the fugitive suspects who fled the church and headed for the border.
