Gunmen Attack Kebbi Immigration Facilities, Kill Four

Four people were killed when suspected terrorists allegedly targeted the Nigerian Immigration Service’s (NIS) Kebbi State’s facilities.

On January 10, a local watchman and three contractors were killed in the attack, which took place around 1920 hours.

Kenneth Udo, the state’s NIS Public Relations Officer, made the disclosure in a statement on Sunday, adding that the incident occurred close to the state’s Kangiwa Local Government Area.

Udo, a Deputy Comptroller of Immigration, however, said no officer of the NIS was killed during the attack.

“While substantial damage was recorded to security facilities, no immigration officers were killed during the incident”, Udo said.

“The attack led to the death of four persons, including a local Watchman and three contractors”.

Udo expressed condolences to the victims’ families and expressed his assurance to the public that efforts were being made in collaboration with sister organizations to find and prosecute the perpetrators.

He noted that despite the tragic incident, the NIS continues to pursue its primary goal of enhancing national security and securing the country’s borders.

“The service regrets to report a recent terrorist attack by a suspected terrorist organization at the Kangiwa border in Kebbi State’s Kangiwa local government area on Friday, January 10th, at around 1920 hours.

” The attack led to the death of four persons, including a local Watchman and three contractors. Additionally, our security equipment suffered significant damage. During the attack, no immigration officers were killed.

“We express our sincere condolences to the deceased’s families. We are actively assisting our sister organizations in bringing these heinous acts to justice by locating, apprehending, and bringing those responsible.
