Gov Sanwo-Olu Never Sued EFCC, Says Lagos Govt

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, according to the Lagos State Government, never brought legal action against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for an alleged plot to arrest and prosecute him after his term.

Sanwo-Olu, a lawsuit that was filed by the EFCC after his time as governor of Lagos, was reported (not by Channels Television).

But in a statement, the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Lawal Pedro, said the government would investigate “how the case came to be without the knowledge” of the governor.

The statement read in part as “We need to make clear that Mr. Sanwo-Olu has never sued or briefed any legal representative in relation to the above subject matter.”

The Governor has almost three years to brief any lawyer on this kind of matter, which is dishonest for him because he enjoys the immunity that the Constitution has granted him.

The commissioner also refuted the EFCC’s claim that the governor was the subject of an investigation by the anti-graft agency, saying that it never threatened to arrest him or any members of his staff.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has been an exemplar in terms of service delivery, prudent and judicious management of the public resources.

Therefore, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who is diligently pursuing improvements to all Lagosians’ living conditions, will not have any issues when he leaves office in May 2027, according to Pedro.
