Zamfara State has available space and is ready for ranching, according to Governor Dauda Lawal’s assurance to the ministry of livestock development.
The governor made a courtesy visit to Minister Idi Maiha on Thursday to the Livestock Ministry’s headquarters.
A statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, revealed that Zamfara, being an agrarian state, plays a significant role in the mandate of the Ministry of Livestock Development.
The statement added that the ministry was created in July 2024 to reform Nigeria’s livestock industry, create a safe environment, encourage local and foreign investment, and enhance food security.

During the visit, Governor Lawal expressed his administration’s willingness to collaborate in exploring Zamfara State’s full potential.
“Honourable Minister, as you know, Zamfara is an agrarian society. That is why our motto is, ‘ Farming is our pride. ‘
We are here today to congratulate you on the launch of this brand-new ministry, which, in our opinion, is appropriate. Additionally, we aim to foster a strong collaboration between our state and the ministry.
There may be opportunities to accommodate any further initiatives, and several earth dams in Zamfara need rehabilitation.
He stated, “We want to meet with the Honorable Minister and his team in Zamfara to check on the state of the situation there.”
While responding, Maiha thanked Governor Lawal for visiting the ministry.
We haven’t had a visit from an executive governor who feels the need to hear what we have to say since the ministry was founded.
“I want to let you know that we are ready to work with you to transform and address your issues in Zamfara’s livestock industry.
” The livestock sector has long operated informally. Through a number of strategic initiatives, we will modernize this industry.
