Gladiators star, Jet, has lifted the lid on her shock split from her wife, who ‘ swept her off her feet ‘ in Tesco.
The 90s pin-up, real name Diane Youdale, 54, got hitched to Zoe Gilbert, 50, after bumping into the teacher in the carpark of her local supermarket after a Pilates class. However, after just 18 months of marriage, they’ve called it quits – and now Diane has revealed why.
Claiming Zoe was jealous of her previous partners, which led to rows, she said of their whirlwind romance: “I knew in my heart I wanted to be with her for the rest of my life, and I proposed. She was funny, had a great mind, she made me laugh a lot and I was fully invested in the relationship. I tend to jump in both feet, pretty quick”.
Continuing in The Sun, she said: “But I became a bit of a passenger, I’m usually independent, proactive, and there’s things I like to do like walking, but I stopped doing all that. She would say ‘ what about Sonia? What about Lisa? ‘ These are exes, professionally and personally. I was like: ‘ I don’t go on at you about your past. I’m not insecure about that. ‘”
The star acknowledged that she had already “lost herself” in the relationship when Diane claimed she had done so in the past and that all the teacher wanted to do was “think about the past.”
The original star of the hit 90s show, Gladiators, Diane tied the knot with her wife during an intimate ceremony in July 2023. After dating for four months, Jet tied the knot with Zoe, and the couple tied the knot in secret in front of only six of their close friends and family.
Diane claimed in an earlier interview about meeting Zoe that she found love in the most unlikely places when they first met in a Tesco parking lot after Diane’s Pilates class was over. Diane confessed she “just knew” Zoe was the One, adding that she’s always felt “relaxed” about her sexuality and didn’t feel the need to “keep it a secret”. The actress stated, “I don’t have any prejudices against men or women, but I’m definitely more at ease with Zoe right now.”
According to Diane, who told Closer magazine, their wedding was a simple affair. Lifting the lid on the big day, she said: “We’re married! We kept it very, very quiet. Literally, nine people knew. It should still be very small, we wanted to keep it that way. She didn’t wear a dress on her big day, opting for a “boho top and trousers” while Zoe wore “brogues and chinos”, looking “ever so smart”.
However, sadly, things went south for the couple soon after. Revealing the newlyweds just “weren’t getting on”, a source told the Daily Mail: “Diane and Zoe just realised it wasn’t to be. They decided to end their marriage because they saw no point in continuing. It’s sad, especially as they were only married for nearly 18 months, but they just weren’t getting on”.
