Diane Youdale, the actress who starred in The Last of the Bride, has come out about Zoe Gilbert’s recent union.
The couple, who met in a Tesco supermarket and married in July 2023, separated just two months later. Diane attributes the break to Zoe’s persistent jealousy of her past relationships, which she felt weakened by.
After dating for four months, Diane made the proposal to Zoe. Six close friends and family members were present when they got married in a private ceremony in September 2023, but they parted ways.
Diane shared that she was initially attracted to her partner’s humour and intelligence, and was fully committed to the relationship. She tends to throw herself in quickly, but admitted she began to feel more passive, as she’s usually independent and enjoys activities like walking, which she stopped doing.
She told The Sun, “She would say, what about Sonia,” explaining how Zoe’s jealousy of her previous relationships began to take a toll. What about Lisa? ‘ These are exes, professionally and personally. I was like: ‘ I don’t go on at you about your past I’m not insecure about that. ‘ But it was endless.
” I lost ‘ me ‘ really quickly. And that’s probably something I’ve done in the past in relation to relationships as well. If all you want to do is talk about someone’s past, what good is it to be with them now and have a future ahead of you?
Despite efforts to reconcile, Diane filed for divorce on their first wedding anniversary. Zoe contests this account, stating her frustration stemmed from learning about Diane’s ex-partners through the media, feeling misled rather than jealous. Zoe stated:” I was continually lied to about these exes. I only learned about them after their press release.
A source told Daily Mail:” Diane and Zoe just realised it wasn’t to be. They decided to end their marriage because they saw no point in continuing. It’s sad, especially as they were only married for nearly 18 months, but they just weren’t getting on. On reflection, they may have rushed things off, but they don’t have any regrets or conflicts of interest.
Diane previously shared details of their wedding as she told Closer magazine:” We’re married! We kept it very, very quiet. Literally, nine people knew. It should still be very small, we wanted to keep it that way. “She didn’t wear a dress on her big day, opting for a” boho top and trousers “while Zoe wore” brogues and chinos”, looking” ever so smart”.
After a brief honeymoon in Northumbria, the couple spent some time with their loved ones, including some of Jet’s former Gladiator co-stars. They later opened up about the turbulent relationship on ITV’s Lorraine. Diane shared to Zoe:” I asked you four months in… I just knew. The proposal was really boring, just in the kitchen over a glass of wine, you know, lets do this. “
