Giovanni Pernice blasts year of hell with brutal message after BBC Strictly bullying row
Following his “dark year,” Giovanni Pernice has expressed his anger.
The dancer was fired from BBC Strictly Come Dancing after being accused of bullying his dance partner, Amanda Abbington. The Sherlock star accused Pernice of being “unnecessary, abusive, cruel and mean” during their rehearsal times. He strongly denied the allegations.
After the license-payer-funded corporation declared they took the claims “very seriously” and reviewed all evidence, an internal investigation was conducted at the time. Due to its “complex nature,” the investigation took some time to complete, and a “rigorous and robust process” was maintained.
“Sorry for my language but 2024 can f**k off. Giovanni exclusively told the Sunday Mirror, “I’ve been anticipating seeing the back of it.” The dancer went on to add: “I’m not going to lie, there were dark moments in terms of, you know, this is finished, this is the end of my career. That was one of my down moments”.
In light of the investigation being completed, the BBC said: “We have assessed the complaints and we have upheld some, but not all, of the complaints made. We regret our relationship with Amanda Abbington and extend our gratitude for her bravery. We are aware that doing this would not have been simple.
Amanda claimed to have had “many” discussions with bosses and raised concerns with Strictly producers on the third day of her training. After its investigation found allegations of verbal bullying and harassment, the BBC apologised to Amanda in September.
Giovanni addresses what transpired after the actress complained to the BBC about him, saying, “Even with that, I was like, I need to be a better man. I have to. I was always keeping a calm inside whenever she released another interview. Trust me, it wasn’t easy, there were dark times. But I know what I did – that kept me calm, because I knew the truth from the beginning.
I anticipated and waited until the finished product had the desired outcomes. You just sit back and enjoy life; I am aware of who I am and what the truth is. Giovanni is now focusing on his upcoming UK tour. He says:” I can’t wait to reconnect with Mother Nature, which is my UK fan base, because they’ve been supportive all the way through and I’ve missed them. Giovanni declares that the performances will be bittersweet for both his fans and himself as they mark his final performance.
He states, “This is my last tour, and it’s going to be so emotional when I get back on stage in front of them again.” I need a break, darling. I’m 35 years old. I’ve been doing this for 10 years. Giovanni wants to work as an actor now that he has left the dance floor. He says:” That’s something I’ve always wanted to do, but obviously English is not my first language, so we have to see. To properly learn English, I must first attend an English school. And I enjoy singing as well, so I should take some singing lessons to get better.
