Celebrity chef Gino D’Acampo has given a glimpse of his new TV role after some time out of the limelight. The foodie has seemingly turned from his normal work to acting, and his new colleagues gushed over working with him.

Gino, 48, has taken a break from our screens due to claims of sexual misconduct made against him, and was pulled from ITV’s schedule. The former This Morning star is under investigation after being accused of inappropriate behaviour dating back over 12 years. He has denied the allegations.

ITV News revealed that over 40 people had been spoken to regarding his alleged wrongdoing – with the most recent complaint allegedly made in 2023. Gino has “firmly denied” the allegations, and now seems to be rebuilding his career. On Instagram this week, Gino shared photos of himself on a TV set. Some of the images show him reaching into a car engine with a cigarette in his mouth, while others capture him standing alongside crew members reviewing footage on a camera or receiving direction.

Alongside the snaps, Gino wrote: “What a fantastic experience in Ireland working on a new series… I can’t wait for you guys to see it… p.s Happy St Patrick’s Day.” The Sun reported that Celebrity Juice host Keith Lemon and This Morning star Josie Gibson liked the post, although their likes are not visible at the time of writing.

Michael Benson, one of Gino’s new coworkers, was uneasy about the photos. Gino, it was a real pleasure working with you on this production, he wrote. Another member of the cast remarked, “That it was amazing that a drama could be shot with so many smiles”!

On his own page, Benson provided more details about what was being filmed and what Gino was like on set. He also provided additional information about one of Gino’s shots. Gino shared photos for St. Patrick’s Day, and he wrote, “I had the pleasure of being DOP on the project” while he was filming a production in Ireland. The production was being directed by Anthony LaPusata. Then, he praised Gino as a “absolute gentleman to work with” and said, “This was a fun shoot.”

Prior to Gino’s new acting job, ITV News reported that dozens of former staff had made claims about working with him on ITV’s This Morning and Gordon, Gino and Fred’s Road Trip. ITV News Reporter Sejal Karia and senior producer Liz Little said even more people have now complained of alleged “aggressive and abusive” actions, but were scared of speaking out.

Little made the claim that “this is a very challenging story to tell. People who have already contacted us and are contacting us now are afraid. They apprehensive about risking their incomes.

In light of the ongoing investigation, his show Family Fortunes has been shelved by ITV. A new series of Stephen Mulhern’s Celebrity Catchphrase will instead move from its traditional Saturday slot to Sunday nights, taking over Gino’s show.
