Gene Hackman’s family suspects carbon monoxide poisoning after triple death tragedy

Gene Hackman and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, tragically passed today, and their family suspects carbon monoxide poisoning may be the cause.
Elizabeth Jean Hackman, their daughter, shared with TMZ that while the exact cause is uncertain, they believe toxic fumes may have played a role. Although Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza confirmed that the investigation is still ongoing, authorities have not found any other evidence of foul play. The house, built in 2000, is relatively modern, and there is no current information on any previous gas leaks or service calls to the property.
When deputies on Wednesday conducted a welfare check and found the couple’s bodies, gas and fire department personnel were dispatched to check for the presence of no hazardous fumes that might harm the officers during the search, according to Sheriff Mendoza. Gene and Betsy, along with one of their dogs, were found dead after a neighbour expressed concerns.
At 1:45 p.m., police were called to a Hyde Park address on Old Sunset Trail. m on Wednesday, according to the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office.
