Gene Hackman’s death investigation cops release body cam footage as daughters make unusual move

Despite his daughter making an effort to stop this, Gene Hackman’s family has released their bodycam footage.

Authorities have released body camera footage from outside Gene Hackman’s home after he and his wife were found dead last month. The deaths of Hackman, 95, and Betsy Arakawa, 63, stunned the world and quickly led to an investigation.

The workers who called the authorities after discovering someone lying on the floor inside a New Mexico home can be seen speaking with deputies in the redacted footage. The deputies inquired about the possibility of a gas leak or carbon monoxide poisoning despite the absence of any signs of forced entry or other evidence of suspicious circumstances. The employees claimed they lacked understanding as to how that might have happened.

One of the workers said, “Something’s not right.” Later, authorities determined that no potentially fatal leaks had occurred. How the pair died was made more ambiguous by the discoveries.

Hollywood star Hackman passed away from heart disease and Alzheimer’s complications around a week later, according to medical investigators. His wife’s death is said to have occurred a week after his wife was killed by hantavirus pulmonary syndrome, a rare, rodent-borne disease.

Only a small portion of the investigation’s footage was made available by the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office. A court in New Mexico issued a temporary restraining order last week to prevent the release of any photos and videos of Hackman and his wife inside their home.

The petition to withhold images was filed by Hackman’s estate, arguing that the 14th Amendment’s protection of the family’s constitutional right to privacy was in jeopardy. Investigators inquired about respecting Hackman and Arawaka’s privacy after employees who had maintained the property spoke with them. Arawaka was viewed as a private person by one employee.

In the body camera footage, there are also brief sightings of one of the couple’s dogs running in the wooded hills on their property on the edge of Santa Fe.

The couple were “nuts” about their dogs, according to a man who identified himself to police as a dog trainer who cared for the couple’s pet dogs. There are toys all over the property, he is said to be saying.

A hairdresser in Arakawa is reportedly interrogating investigators in another video. He claimed that his client had dogs with her and that even the smallest one would frequently visit the salon with them.

Not far from Arakawa’s body, that dog was discovered inside a crate. According to a report from the veterinary lab at the state department of agriculture, the dog most likely perished from starvation and dehydration.

Elizabeth Hackman, the actor’s daughter, requested that the dog’s body be cremated. She can speak with the neighborhood animal shelter to discuss options, according to the authorities.
