A new finding only adds to the mystery that has been solved by actor Gene Hackman’s death on Wednesday at his Santa Fe, New Mexico, home along with his wife and one of his dogs.

Gene, his wife Betsy Arakawa, 64, and their pet dog, Gene, passed away at his mansion at the age of 95. At 1:45 p.m., the police were called to a Hyde Park address on Old Sunset Trail. The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office says the deaths occurred on February 26; however, the authorities didn’t make any public announcements until shortly after midnight.

According to a new report, police “found a pair of feet and legs on the ground close to the kitchen area.” The deceased man was discovered with brown slippers, long-sleeve t-shirts, gray sweat pants, and walking cane. Deputy Thomas claimed to have seen a pair of sunglasses close to the deceased’s left eye.

According to Deputy Thomas’ training and background, he believed the male had suddenly fallen. According to Deputy Thomas, the male victim also displayed obvious death signs, which were similar to those of the female victim.

After being discovered with one of the couple’s living dogs in a bathroom, police said a heater close to Betsy’s head could have fallen (Getty Images).

He advised him that he suspected the heater might have fallen in the event that the female abruptly fell to the ground, according to the report. The office also advised him that he had an orange prescription bottle atop a woman’s counter-top when she passed away. Pills were dispersed on the counter-top when the prescription bottle was opened.

The couple’s dogs were discovered dead on the property, with the front door closed, a mystery. According to Mendoza, “Deputies noticed a healthy dog running loose on the property, a healthy dog lying 10-15 feet away from the deceased female in a bathroom closet, the heater being moved, the pill bottle being opened, and the male decedent being located in a separate room of the residence,” and the reporting party found the front door unsecured and opened.

Mendoza claimed that their bodies had no obvious trauma or no suicide note. There isn’t anything like that at this point in the process, “he said.” More will be revealed in the autopsy. A cause of death has not yet been determined, but an autopsy revealed there were “no signs of external trauma.”

Although it seems unlikely, Hackman’s family had previously believed a gas leak was to blame for the tragic deaths. If there were any potential carbon monoxide leaks, the Santa Fe City Fire Department underwent testing.

He informed the fire department that there are no indications of a carbon monoxide leak or poisoning, and that there are currently no indications or proof that the pipes in and around the house have any problems. We won’t assume this was caused by an accident or by natural causes, sheriff Mendoza continued. It wasn’t unusual.
