After it was revealed that they first called the Hackman home in response to a neighbor who called to request a welfare check on Gene and Betsy, the Sheriff’s Office has also revealed that they are still waiting on a search warrant as part of their investigation. This suggests that more information may need to be discovered as the inquiries progress.
Gene’s author biography describes the retired actor living in the Santa Fe area with his wife and two German shepherds. The couple had three dogs before, and Gene had adopted a third furry friend while filming The Replacements in Baltimore with Keanu Reeves in 1999. They were undoubtedly animal lovers.
While the pair were filming, two stray dogs walked onto the set. Gene and Keanu were named after the starring pair after Gene initially took them to an animal shelter. Later, Gene and Betsy made the decision to adopt the dog.
Gene and Betsy adopted their dog from Animal Rescue Inc., and Gene and Betsy wrote a birthday greeting to him on January 30th, 2018. In a Facebook post, the animal rescue shelter wrote:” Happy 94th birthday to our most famous adopter Gene Hackman!! Two stray dogs entered the movie set in Baltimore in 1999 while The Replacements were being shot. The Hackmans came up the following week and adopted one of the dogs, and both dogs were transported to us by limousine. #adoptdontshop. “
The Santa Fe Sheriff’s Office is working to find out what happened in the mansion, so an explanation for the survival of just two dogs among both the humans and the Hackman household’s pets is expected soon. At this time, foul play is not suspected to be a factor in those deaths, but the cause of death has not been determined. The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an active and ongoing investigation, according to Sheriff Mendoza of the force.
He added that he and his coworkers were looking for a search warrant to advance their inquiries. All I can say is that we’re in the middle of a preliminary death investigation, waiting on approval of a search warrant, “he Mendoza said, adding:” I want to assure the community and neighbourhood that there’s no immediate danger to anyone. “
