GB’s Tomblin makes history with World Cup gold

With his victory in the men’s tech solo competition at the artistic swimming World Cup in Paris, Britain’s Ranjuo Tomblin has made history.
The 19-year-old is now the country’s first male World Cup medal winner after winning the first time last year in the country’s first male artistic swimming competition.
Tomblin’s routine in the season opener earned him a score of 214.3966 from the judges. He has stated that he wants to change how people perceive the sport.
Eduard Kim of Kazakhstan won the silver medal with 213.8167, while Jordi Caceres Iglesias of Spain took the bronze medal with 213.5992.
We merely came here to test our routines, Tomblin said, “I totally didn’t anticipate it.”
“I’m just really happy and I can’t really believe this has happened because I’m really grateful that I get to practice our routines at the big competitions.”
Kate Shortman and Izzy Thorpe won their first Olympic medal in the sport last year in the same city as their performance, which has inspired Tomblin.
He continued, “Kate and Izzy are really opening the door for us as a younger generation of athletes.”
They’ve taught us that Great Britain is actually quite good at this sport, which has given us a lot of confidence.
