Ruth Jones, James Corden, and Gavin & Stacey will once more collaborate just months after the BBC broadcast the season finale of the sitcom on Christmas Day.

James Corden and Ruth Jones are set to work together again after the finale of Gavin & Stacey. The creative minds behind the hit BBC sitcom, are set to discuss their new book and share insights into the creation of the hit show at the Hay Festival this spring.

In anticipation of their upcoming book, When Gavin Met Stacey And Everything In Between: A Story Of Love And Friendship, they will delve into the origins of the sitcom, its phenomenal success, and its record-breaking Christmas special.

At the festival, which is scheduled for Friday, May 23rd, the duo will also reflect on their 25-year friendship and professional partnership. The long-distance romance between Wales’ Stacey West and Essex-based Gavin Shipman is chronicled in the BBC series.

The book follows the BBC’s reported 12.3 million viewers’ overnight viewing of the Gavin &amp, Stacey Christmas special and finale, which received the highest Christmas Day ratings since 2008. According to the BBC, the episode was watched by 19.3 million people in the eight days leading up to January 2.

According to Barb’s official seven-day ratings, 17.9 million people tuned in to the 2019 Gavin &amp, Stacey Christmas Day episode. Corden and Jones stated at the time the audience’s responses to our show and these astounding viewing figures were made public: “We are completely overwhelmed by the response from the audience.

Unfortunately, the pair confirmed that there would be no more fan-favorite episodes of the holiday show, leaving many completely devastated.

We are beyond thrilled that so many people enjoyed watching Gavin & Stacey this Christmas because it truly belongs to the audience. According to previous hints from Transworld Publishers, a division of Penguin Random House, the book will “describe the rejection, challenges and obstacles they encountered in giving birth to their beloved comedy creation” and James and Ruth will also examine the development of their own real-life friendship.

We are delighted to welcome James Corden and Ruth Jones together on the Hay Festival 2025 program for a lively discussion about friendship, creativity, and perseverance, according to Julie Finch, Global Chief Executive of the Hay Festival.

It’s “the perfect time to hear them talk about the art of screenwriting, storytelling in collaboration, and Wales’ cultural impact,” says Gavin & Stacey Christmas special, which has dominated the TV schedule.

In 2008, one year after the show’s launch, Corden and Jones had previously published the book Gavin &amp, Stacey: From Barry To Billericay. When Gavin Met Stacey And Everything In Between: A Story of Love and Friendship, their newest book, is scheduled to be released on October 16, 2025. The audiobook version will also feature the pair singing along.

Sir Stephen Fry, Jameela Jamil, Grayson Perry, the Good Place, Sir Grayson Perry, and Succession writer Jesse Armstrong make up the impressive lineup for this year’s Hay Festival.

Stacey Dooley and Lorraine Kelly, both a singer and a chef, will also be gracing the festival along with Paloma Faith and Yotam Ottolenghi. Hay-on-Wye, Wales, hosts the Hay Festival, which is currently in its 38th spring edition, and runs May 22 through June 1. It features over 600 events spread over 11 days.
