Following the report that Amy Dowden “collapsed” backstage over the weekend, former Strictly Come Dancing judge Dame Arlene Phillips has shared her thoughts on the pro.

Amy, 34, is said to have felt “unwell” shortly after performing on the BBC show on Saturday night. Although she’s now “doing much better,” it’s been announced that the professional dancer will be leaving Strictly this week. She then wasn’t present at the results show.

The news has prompted reaction from choreographer Arlene, 81 – who was a judge on Strictly from 2004 and 2008, prior to Amy joining the show. She claimed to Amy, a “powerhouse,” and wants to be “back on that floor like everyone else,” during the Global Gift Gala on Monday.

She will accept that, according to Arlene, “I think her belief and her strength… maybe there was a moment that overshadowed her, and she does need rest and care.” The moment we dance on the dance floor, Amy is the best fighter. I am aware that Strictly will take care of her, but Amy is also her own woman, and any decisions she makes ultimately are her own.

It’s been announced that Amy’s colleague Lauren Oakley, 33, will rehearse with JB Gill, 37 – who has been partnered with Amy on the latest series of Strictly – this week. On Saturday night, Lauren will take the place of Amy in a performance with JB. According to the BBC, Amy has previously mentioned having been diagnosed with Crohn’s disease and having cancer, and that she is hoping to make another appearance on Strictly next week.

The Strictly family sends her love and well-being, according to a Strictly family spokesperson. She is delighted that fellow professional dancer]Lauren] is able to step in for rehearsals and to perform in Saturday’s show for]JB’s] Couple’s Choice dance. We all have faith that Amy and JB will return to dance the following week.

JB previously shared images from Halloween week with a message to fans on Instagram. Following the results show, he wrote in the post: “On behalf of both @amy_dowden and I, I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who voted for us and wished us a happy birthday.” We are so grateful to have been able to continue watching @bbcstrictly for another week.

Amy had received medical attention on Saturday, according to an announcement made on Sunday ahead of the airing of the most recent results show. An ambulance was called as a precaution because Amy was feeling unwell, according to a spokesperson for her. She is feeling much better and thanks the Strictly family for their support. We request Amy’s privacy in matters of health is kindly respected”.

An East of England Ambulance Service spokesperson stated earlier on Saturday that we were called in Borehamwood just after 9pm to deal with a medical emergency. The scene received an ambulance. One patient, an adult female, was transported to Barnet Hospital for further care”.
