Five Filling Stations Sealed In Katsina For Under-Dispensing Fuel

Five petroleum stations in the state’s north-west were closed on Thursday due to safety concerns and under-dispensing fuel, according to the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA)’s (NMDPRA) state branch’s (Kasina State Branch).

The routine operation led by the State Controller, Umar Muhammad, was aimed at ensuring compliance with industry standards and protecting consumers ‘ rights.

Our correspondent discovered that the routine enforcement exercise focused on gas stations that have their licenses already expired and have not renewed them as required by regulatory authorities.

The majority of the affected filling stations were also sealed for their failure to deliver more than the recommended litre of fuel, shortening customers, and lacking in safety tools, such as fire extinguishers and other essential tools.

Total Petrol Station, A., and A. are the five affected petroleum stations. A. Rano, Ashafa Petrol, Maje Gas and Gwagware International Petroleum Ltd.

The authority issued a warning to filling stations about the dispensing of petroleum products, warning that any culpable filling station would be dealt with in accordance with the stipulated guidelines.

Muhammad reiterated the authority’s commitment to upholding regulatory standards and protecting consumer interests by reaffirming its commitment to ensuring safety and transparency in the downstream petroleum sector.
