Fire Destroys Goods Worth Millions In Kwara Market

In a fire outbreak at Olusola Saraki Market in the Ita-Amo Local Government Area of Kwara State on Friday night, items valued at several million Naira were destroyed.

According to the state Fire Service, items destroyed in the fire incident included clothing materials, provisions, mineral drinks and meat.

The Fire Service, in a statement, said that seven shops were destroyed out of the 269 shops in the market.

According to the statement, the fire was caused by a power surge brought on by a shaky supply from the power distribution company.

“The affected shops included meat vendors, clothing material shops, and provision stores.

According to the statement, preliminary investigations revealed that the incident may have been caused by a power surge following the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC)’s (the market’s security personnel’s) reported power surge.
