FG Receives $52.88m Recovered Assets Linked To Diezani

Diezani Alison-Madueke, a former minister of petroleum, was linked to $ 52.88 million in recovered Galactica assets from the US.

At the official signing ceremony of the United States of America-Nigeria asset agreement’s signing ceremony on Friday in Abuja, the attorney-general of the Federation and minister of justice Lateef Fagbemi made the disclosure.

Fagbemi explained that the World Bank will use the $50 million in recovered assets to fund the rural electrification project, and the International Institute of Justice will use the remaining $2 million to expand the justice system and combat corruption.

Further, Fagbemi noted that the asset return represents a milestone in the ongoing partnership between Nigeria and the US in promoting the rule of law and preventing corruption.

He claimed that President Bola Tinubu is making a significant effort to address the corruption problem.
