FG Rakes In ₦2.4bn From Marriage Contracts

Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the interior minister, has reported that the federal government’s marriage registry generated about N2.4 billion in revenue from marriage contracts in 2024.

He added that the Federal Government intended to bolster border security to stop the flow of undocumented immigrants.

He addressed heads of ministries in Abuja on Tuesday during a media conference.

Additionally, the minister disclosed that expatriate quota applications generated more than three point two billion naira, representing a one-hundred and fifty percent increase in overall revenue.

He continued, noting that the ministry’s revenue has grown significantly since it overestimated revenue from marriage contracts as of October 31, 2023, making over N892 million in revenue.
