FG Intentionally Refusing To Address Insecurity In Nigeria, Yehuza Getso Alleges

An intelligence and security consultant,Yahuza Getso, has alleged that the Federal Government is deliberately refusing to address insecurity in Nigeria.

“I mentioned a word, and I’m going to repeat it, and that’s my position and I will repeat it to anybody, either eyeball to eyeball or [in] any discussion that Nigeria government is intentionally refusing to address insecurity in Nigeria,” Getso said during an interview on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Wednesday.

He said that bandits launching deadly attacks on unsuspecting Nigerians could be identified.

“You can profile them by polling units, political wards, local government constituencies, and state assembly constituencies.

“I have made a submission to the 8th,9th, and 10th assemblies providing some relevant profiling information about all those who are terrorising most areas of the North West and North Central part of the country,” he added.

Speaking further, Getso urged President Bola Tinubu to fulfill his promise to secure lives and property.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has promised Nigerians that he and his government are going to provide security now. I’m reminding and sending a reminder to President Bola Ahmed and those he has assigned the responsibility of security to revisit that policy, and also revisit many of his statements,” he added.

Insecurity remains a major challenge in Nigeria, particularly in the northern region, where insurgency, banditry, and violent attacks have persisted for over a decade.

The crisis began in 2009 with the rise of Boko Haram in northeastern Nigeria, later complicated by the activities of Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) and armed bandit groups operating in states such as Borno, Zamfara, Katsina, Kaduna, and Niger.

Several major attacks have been reported in the region.

In response, the Nigerian military has intensified counter-terrorism operations.

Under Operation Hadin Kai, troops conduct offensives in different areas, including Sambisa Forest, to eliminate insurgent strongholds.

Airstrikes and ground assaults have also targeted bandit camps in Zamfara and other northwestern states.
