A fake recruitment notice allegedly for the Port Harcourt Refining Company (PHRC) has been circulating online by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd).
The announcement is a scam, according to Mr. Olufemi Soneye, the spokesman for the National Oil Company, who issued a statement on Friday.
The allegedly recruitment link that is being distributed on various online platforms is the work of fraudsters who are eager to extort money from the recently renovated Port Harcourt Refinery to trick unwary customers, Soneye said.
Following a rehabilitation project launched by the Nigerian government in 2019, the Port Harcourt Refining Company recently resumed operations.
The refinery’s $1.5 billion project sought to return to its 210, 000 barrel daily capacity.
Any recruitment announcements would be made through official channels, according to NNPC Ltd, who clarified that the Port Harcourt Refinery does not have a separate hiring process.
The company advised the public to be cautious and steer clear of the scam.
