FAAN Closes Ibadan Airport For Upgrade
The Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport in Ibadan, Oyo State, will temporarily close, according to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria.
Obiageli Orah, FAAN Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, stated in a statement on Sunday that the closure had been approved by the federal government.
She claimed that the closure was done to facilitate extensive upgrades to improve operational standards and infrastructure.
She argues that the action was necessary to carry out essential airport improvements.

According to the statement, “The Federal Government of Nigeria has approved the temporary closure of Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport (SLAA), Ibadan, due to ongoing upgrades.”
“Various improvements and remodelling projects are currently being worked on as part of the Oyo State Government’s plan to convert Ibadan Airport from a domestic airport to an international airport.”
The International Civil Aviation Organization’s regulations have caused the Nigeria Airspace Management Agency to close the runway and suspend airport operations, according to the statement.

The state government’s plan to upgrade the aerodrome to become a global hub was reflected in the upgrade.
