F1: McLaren’s Piastri wins Chinese Grand Prix with Norris second

Oscar Piastri, an Australian who finished second in his home race, won the Chinese Formula One Grand Prix with Lando Norris, who leads the championship, in a McLaren one-two.

Max Verstappen, the reigning champion of Red Bull, and George Russell, the reigning champion of sprint racing, placed fifth and sixth in Shanghai on Sunday, followed by Charles Leclerc of Ferrari and Lewis Hamilton, the champion of the day.

Norris won a third straight victory thanks to Piastri’s win, including last year’s season-ender, but McLaren remain undefeated in two races this year.

The car has been pretty awesome, according to Piastri, and it’s been an incredible weekend.

“Very, very happy,” the phrase. To go all the way to the end was a bit of a surprise, but a happy surprise because the hard was much better than everyone had anticipated.

Norris had to deal with a late brake problem, which made it impossible for him to accept second place over his teammate.

After two weekend races, Verstappen finished with 36 points, but the Briton is still in command of the championship.

Russell knew it was crucial to try to take the lead once more from the lead.

Instead, he was forced to turn around by Piastri’s long first bend complex, which made Norris leap ahead of the competition.

Verstappen was eliminated from the top of the standings by two Ferraris after they passed him on the same bend.

Leclerc brushed Hamilton’s rear right wheel, but it brushed it away from his pace, losing a portion of his front wing.

On lap 14, Hamilton was the first of the front-runners to slam in for new rubber.

Russell passed Norris in the melee, and all others followed for hard tyres.

However, with the aid of DRS, the McLaren displayed superior pace and outpaced the competition at the end of the pit straight.

On the difficult compound, Hamilton began to struggle before allowing his teammate to pass Leclerc on lap 21.

Hamilton was forced to pit for new tires on lap 38, putting him in the mix with Verstappen.

The first five all stayed out as it became clear that they would make an effort to keep the hard tyres on until the 56 laps were over.

Verstappen had been able to pass the Ferrari at lap 54 and have a late charge on Leclerc after maintaining his tyres the entire course.

Esteban Ocon was seventh in the points race, while rookie Ollie Bearman was 10th. Haas finished with two cars in the points race.

Kimi Antonelli, a Mercedes teenager, and Alex Albon, a 29-year-old Williamsteen, scored the other points.
