Stuart Lancaster’s departure from Racing 92 will take effect immediately, putting an end to his difficult time as England’s former boss in Paris.

The 55-year-old left Racing in 2023 after failing to advance to the Investec Champions Cup knockout stages, where they placed 12th in the Top 14 after nine league defeats.

Up until the end of the season, Patrice Collazo, a former Racing prop, will take over. Collazo previously worked as an academy coach for the club.

In a statement, Racing said: “Racing 92 and Stuart Lancaster have decided to end their collaboration with immediate effect.

Stuart Lancaster is praised by Racing 92, and we wish him the best of all. Stuart, for his part, wishes Racing 92 the best for both the current and upcoming seasons.

Before making his move to Leinster in 2016, where he spent a successful spell as senior coach under Leo Cullen, winning the Champions Cup in 2018. Lancaster was in charge of England from 2011 to 2015.

He recently responded to “false” reports that linked him to a return to Ireland and the vacancy as Munster head coach.

Lancaster recruited former England captain Owen Farrell and 22-year-old wing Henry Arundell, who scored five tries for Steve Borthwick’s side at the 2023 Rugby World Cup, to Racing.
