Everton Advance In FA Cup After Dyche Dismissal

Just after Sean Dyche was fired by the struggling Premier League side on Thursday, Everton won 2-0 to avoid embarrassment in the FA Cup.

Less than four hours before the third round tie, Dyche was fired, and David Moyes, the club’s new owners, the Friedkin Group, is said to be in talks with the club’s former owner about resuming play.

Twelve years after he left for Manchester United, Moyes is the bookmakers’ favorite to save Everton from relegation.

Everton was led by the Scot between 2002 and 2013, but he hasn’t played since leaving West Ham last season.

After only winning one of their past 11 games, the Toffees are once more battling to avoid falling back to bottom against mediocre Wolves in December, with the only exception being against them.

With just one point separating them from the relegation zone, Everton have only won three of their 19 league games this year.

Despite numerous issues, including last season’s points deduction for breaking Premier League regulations on profit and sustainability, Dyche kept Everton in the top flight.

Although the former Burnley boss maintained Everton’s streak of being ever-present in English football’s top-flight since 1954, their fans were unhappy with the team’s dull style of play.

That was especially painful when they were unable to convert in their previous game, which was 1-0 at Bournemouth, and only managed two when they were 2-0 away from Nottingham Forest.

After the axe fell, Dyche was present earlier on Thursday at the Everton training facility to bid his last farewells, but his column was still on the matchday program for the Peterborough game.

Former Everton defender Leighton Baines, now the club’s under-18s coach, and captain Seamus Coleman took charge against Peterborough, using the starting line-up selected by Dyche before his dismissal.

“It was a unique day in a lot of ways”, Baines said. “It was just a little different. Everyone has to get on with their jobs, but it’s never nice when a manager loses.

” Winning a game is always a positive. I’m not too sure about what’s next. Things moved so quickly today. “

When Jarrad Branthwaite cleared his low drive off the line, Cian Hayes of Peterborough was just inches away from giving them a shock first half lead.

In the 42nd minute, Beto finally uplifted Everton’s sluggish supporters by taking Harrison Armstrong’s pass inside the box, rounding Peterborough goalkeeper Nicholas Bilokapic, and slotting into the empty net.

Armando Broja, an on-loan Chelsea player on loan, needed oxygen before being stretchered off with his right ankle severely strapped in a blow to Everton.

There was no family affair for Everton defender Ashley Young, who came off the bench in the closing minutes, while his teenage son Tyler, who plays for Peterborough, remained an unused substitute.

However, Jadel Katongo fouled Branthwaite in stoppage-time, and Iliman Ndiaye converted the penalty for Everton without Dyche.

At Craven Cottage, Fulham defeated second-place Watford 4-1.

In the 26th minute, Rodrigo Muniz opened the scoring with a reflexive strike from Adama Traore’s cross.

In the 33rd minute, Rocco Vata hit a fantastic 25-yard strike to give Watford the lead.

Raul Jimenez’s 49th minute penalty — awarded for Ryan Porteous’s foul on Traore — restored Fulham’s advantage.

Timothy Castagne headed in with five minutes left before Joachim Andersen’s 65th-minute winner was actually sealed.

“We are very important to the FA Cup. It’s a great competition, the only strange thing is to be playing on a Thursday night, “Fulham boss Marco Silva said.

Cian Ashford’s 19th minute goal gave Cardiff a 1-0 win at fellow Championship side Sheffield United.
