England men’s hockey team beat the Netherlands on penalties to clinch a bonus point in the FIH Hockey Pro League, while England’s women lost 3-0 to the Dutch

Goals from Zack Wallace and Samuel Hooper put England in a strong position after 10 minutes, but Tijmen Reyenga reduced the deficit shortly before half-time and Miles Bukkens equalised with just three minutes remaining to force a shootout.

England, who sit fourth after five fixtures, held their nerve to win 3-1 on penalties, sealing their second overtime victory of the season.

They return to action on Saturday against Spain at 10:00 GMT in Valencia.

Meanwhile, England’s women fell to a third defeat of the campaign against the Netherlands.

Yibbi Jansen registered twice with Frederique Matla also on the scoresheet for the league’s joint-highest scorers.
