As India defeated England 2-1 in the FIH Pro League on Tuesday, Harmanpreet Singh scored both of their goals.

Captain Singh gave the hosts, ranked fifth in the world, a 26th-minute lead at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar.

Conor Williamson scored an equalizer for world number three-ranked England at the halfway point, but Singh struck once more three minutes later to claim the victory.

In terms of goal difference, England, who defeated India 3-2 on Monday, is still ahead of Belgium, while India moves to third place in the Pro League table.

England also had two games with Spain in Bhubaneswar, winning 1-0 in a penalty shootout following a 2-2 draw, before losing 4-1.

Tuesday’s match was the last of the Pro League’s Indian series, which also featured four games for England’s women’s team.

They lost 3-2 to India before beating the hosts 2-1 in a shootout after a 2-2 draw. England were then beaten 5-1 and 6-0 last weekend by the Netherlands, the world number one and league leaders.

England is at the bottom of the women’s table with five points after all nine teams have played eight games.
