England begin bid for legacy-defining year

Date: Sunday, March 23rd, 2019 Kick-off: 15:00 GMT
Only winning money does John Mitchell’s England use to finance their work.
The Red Roses are on a stellar 20-game winning streak that they are hoping to win their seventh title in a row.
England haven’t lost since Mitchell’s arrival in 2023, but it won’t matter if his side doesn’t deliver in the year of judgment.
The countdown to the 2025 ultimate prize begins with a home rugby world championship beginning in August.
A Six Nations Grand Slam is always anticipated, and it’s the final competitive competition before the showpiece event, giving England the final legitimate chance to develop a strategy to overcome any demons from their most recent defeat, a 2022 World Cup final defeat to New Zealand.
This year is all about legacy-defining glory, whether Mitchell or his players will admit it or not.
In York on Sunday against Italy, the first phase of a successful preparation, which must beexemplary, will begin.
We can’t ignore the fact that this is our home World Cup. We’re excited about that, but Mitchell said, “We have a nice little goal in mind to develop our game,” but the Six Nations is really important to us.”

“Another way to use competition for positions to our advantage”
Mitchell refused to describe his selections using the word “rotation” as a descriptive term. Instead, he uses the phrase “one team operating as two” as a model.
Packer, who has taken over from Marlie Packer as skipper, assumes her new position as vice-captain from open-side flanker, making Lock Zoe Aldcroft the first time in the team.
Mia Venner, a Gloucester-Hartpury player, will receive a spot on the wing for her first cap in five years, while full-back Emma Sing will hope to demonstrate why a high-percentage goal-kicker is required to make a World Cup squad.
Claudia MacDonald, the head coach for the Exeter Chiefs, will be eager to display a reminder of her abilities, which were crucial to England’s preparation for the 2022 World Cup final. She has recovered from a second serious neck injury.
Both GB Sevens player Jade Shekells and Exeter scrum-half Flo Robinson could make their debuts off the bench.
Despite playing the majority of her rugby for England in the midfield, Helena Rowland has been given the task of leading the team from fly-half.
The New Zealander continued, “We have to make the most of the competition for spots.” A World Cup final is what “2025 starts with.”
We will need two teams to operate this year to play 13 Test matches, they say.
Italy forced their opponents to commit numerous first-half errors, falling 48-0 to England in last year’s opening Six Nations game, and were only 10 points clear at half-time.
After only one win in the previous campaign, Italy made the bold choice to replace Giovanni Raineri as head coach with Fabio Roselli. They won two of their three games at WXV2.
Roselli’s side’s unknown might raise new questions for England and provide some valuable on-field solutions.
They enjoy attacking rugby, and in research with him and his coaching staff, Mitchell said, “I think we’ll see an Italian side that will want to express itself early.”
