Emmerdale’s Kathryn Apanowicz dies after long illness as pal shares moving tribute

Kathryn Apanowicz, a television actress and broadcaster, passed away.
The actress, 64, passed away after a lengthy illness on Monday. Her friend praised her on social media. Former ITV Calendar presenter Christa Ackroyd referred to her as a “lovely friend” on Facebook. She wrote, “Reunited with her beloved Richard,” in a heartfelt tribute. My sweet friend, you will be sorely missed. What adventures did we have. Without you, the world will never be duller. “.
She continued, adding, “Thank you for the music my friend,” in an image of her and Kathryn. RIP [heartbroken emoji] “
Richard Whiteley and Kathryn were their former partners on Countdown. From 1994 until his passing in 2005, the pair lived together. His final seven years were spent living with him. She published the book Richard by Kathryn: The Life of Richard Whiteley shortly after his passing. He was 61 years old when he passed away from heart problems with Kathryn by his side.
She moved in 2017 to refute what she described as “ridiculous” claims that he had worked for MI5. The former Countdown host was accused of conspiring with the government and planning a plot to have him and a group called the Shrewsbury 24 imprisoned, according to actor Ricky Tomlinson. Kathryn claimed at the time that there was no way her partner could have survived such a secret career because of his asthma and poor understanding of technology and math.
Fans took to social media to express their condolences after hearing about Kathryn’s passing. One Twitter/X user shared a sneak peak of her EastEnders appearance. I’m so sorry to learn about Kathryn Apanowicz’s passing. She made a big impression as a Mags on #EastEnders in the 1980s, despite only having a small role in her career. Very fondly remembered.
ITV Calendar’s Ian White also posted: “Very sad news tonight about friend and former coworker Kathryn Apanowicz.” Another fan expressed sadness over the passing of presenter and actress Kathryn Apanowicz. In the late 1980s, Kathryn appeared in a charity show in Leicester and spent her days watching EastEnders. RIP, Kathryn”.
Kathryn is also credited with hosting both EastEnders and Emmerdale, as well as being a presenter on ITV’s Live Talk and playing roles in Bugsy Malone as a child.
