Some unexpected comments are made in the new footage that police shot after finding Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa’s bodies at their remote home.

Eerie footage of the moment cops from the Santa Fe Sheriff’s Office discovered Hollywood star Gene Hackman dead at home has been released.

The Oscar-winning actor, 95, was discovered at his Santa Fe home on 26 February, alongside his wife Betsy, 65. In one video, which was made public yesterday, a shaken handyman can be heard telling police that “something’s not right.” Discussing the possibility that the couple died from a gas leak, an unnamed groundskeeper says: “That big vent you see on the roof by the front door, that thing’s like that big around, so it’s meant to vent.

That mechanical room is pretty cramped up, so I just don’t. Carbon monoxide is not going to get… “

When questioned about whether gas could have leaking through kitchen equipment, the aide responds, “It shouldn’t.” I don’t understand how they both behave in this manner. There is a problem.

The handyman expresses his grief over losing his job in a different segment of the video, which TMZ shared. He claims, “He’s just a normal person and to see that, both of them, I get attached to all of these people, they treat me really well.”

Sadly, Betsy passed away a week before her husband, who had late-stage Alzheimer’s, according to medical examiners who had discovered a rare rodent-borne illness called hantavirus pulmonary syndrome as the cause of her tragic death. The newly released tape also includes an exchange between Hackman’s daughter Elizabeth and a Santa Fe Sheriff’s Office deputy. She instructs the judge to dispose of Zinna’s remains and bring the remains to her stepmum’s grave.

She responds, “I’m thinking cremate the dog and bury it with Betsy… Could you save that for me if the dog was wearing a collar? “

Zinna was found dead in a crate near Betsy’s body, and the Santa Fe County animal control agency’s report said there was “partial mummification” of the dog. The dog’s stomach only contained small amounts of hair and bile, leading animal control officials to confirm Zinna died of starvation and dehydration.

The Santa Fe Tails pet care facility’s owner, Joey Padilla, described their beloved pet as “an incredible companion” to Betsy and a returned shelter dog. After maintenance workers raised the alarm, Santa Fe Fire Department Chief Brian Moya reported to USA Today that the two surviving dogs, Bear and Nikita, had assisted authorities in finding their owners’ bodies.

He recalled the dogs were running up to first responders and barking, before running in a different direction. “They realised (the dog) was trying to say, ‘Hey, come over here! Come over here!’,” he said.

Gene, who won two Oscars, left Hollywood in the early 2000s and prefered living alone in Santa Fe with his three dogs, Betsy, for a more intimate life. A Gene and Betsy’s estate representative has attempted to stop the public from seeing their autopsy and investigative reports, citing privacy concerns, after learning about the couple’s passing.

It has also been reported that his children are not included in his will, paving the way for a huge battle over his £40million fortune.

In the event of Gene’s death, his money was intended to go to his wife Betsy as opposed to his three children, Christopher and Leslie and Elizabeth. All of Betsy’s money was intended to benefit charities if the pair of them passed away within 90 days of each other.
