In a matchup watched by President Donald Trump, the Philadelphia Eagles soared to a crushing 40-22 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, shattering their rivals’ attempts to win a historic hat-trick of NFL titles.

Jalen Hurts, the Eagles’ quarterback, threw for two touchdowns and ran for one more in vengeance at New Orleans’ Superdome, an emphatic display of honoring their agonizing Super Bowl defeat to the Chiefs two years prior.

“I’ve been able to use every experience and learn from it — the good, the bad, all of it — to pursue my own greatness”, Hurts said.

“But without the guys around me, I couldn’t do any of these things.” This year, we had a special group of people who learned from the past, received some nice new pieces, and “got over that hump.”

Following their victories in the Super Bowls of 2023 and 2024, the Chiefs had been working to become the first team to have won three consecutive Vince Lombardi championships.

However, the Eagles’ iron defense and clinical offense, which were dominant throughout, never seemed to be leading his team to glory as the quarterback was sacked six times and threw two interceptions.

“Credit to the Eagles, they played better than us from start to finish”, Mahomes said. “I take all the blame for the turnovers, and I’m obviously the one who made them.” I simply didn’t perform to my standards, and I need to improve next time.

After three unanswered touchdowns from Hurts, Cooper DeJean, and A. J., the Eagles effectively had the game won by half-time. Brown.

Late in the third quarter, they extended the lead to 34-0 before Kansas City finally scored three late touchdowns. Jake Elliott, a quarterback for the Eagles, scored four field goals.

– Trump applause, Gaza protest –

A star-studded 65, 719 crowd, including Trump, who flew into New Orleans from Florida on Air Force One just before the game with Tiger Woods, watched the extravaganza. He became the first sitting US President to attend the Super Bowl after taking part in a round of golf with Tiger Woods.

Trump has long had a turbulent relationship with the NFL, which led to outcry in 2017 when he attacked players for kneeling during renditions of the US national anthem in protest of racial injustice.

However, shortly before kick-off, the US leader arrived at the venue and received a generally positive reception.

Soon after arriving, Trump met with victims of the New Orleans attack, which left 14 people dead and dozens of others wounded, and first responders and their families.

When Trump saluted during the national anthem on the Superdome’s giant screen, loud cheering could be heard in the crowd later.

The booing that rang out around the venue when the same screen showed Taylor Swift seated in the VIP seats was in stark contrast to the warm applause.

Swift was among the stars seated near the venue, which included former Beatles singer Paul McCartney, Hollywood legends Kevin Costner, Anne Hathaway, and Lionel Messi, who also sat watching his boyfriend and Chiefs ace Travis Kelce.

The catcalls for Swift — who backed Trump’s opponent Kamala Harris in last year’s election — were not lost on the US President.

Trump later retweeted a message to his TruthSocial network that read, “The world is healing while Taylor Swift gets booed at the Super Bowl”!

While the star wattage was up, Lady Gaga gave a surprise performance in a segment honoring the fallen US victims of recent tragedies in New Orleans’ famous Bourbon Street before the show began.

Trump’s meanwhile expressed hope that the nation’s teams would team up for the Super Bowl, which is by far the biggest annual event on the American sporting calendar.

“Football is America’s most popular sport — for good reason — it fosters a sense of national unity, bringing families, friends, and fans together and strengthening communities”, Trump said in a statement released by the White House.

“This annual tradition transcends our differences and personifies our shared patriotic values of family, faith, and freedom”, he added.

After a half-time show featuring rapper Kendrick Lamar that included a cameo from singer-songwriter SZA, Trump left the stadium early in the third quarter, and tennis legend Serena Williams was also spotted dancing along with other performers on a makeshift stage.
