In the most recent Marvel trailer, Beatles fans can be seen making a band-related reference.
Some eagle-eyed viewers have noticed what appears to be a tribute to the Liverpudlian legends as the excitement mounts following the release of the new Fantastic Four trailer yesterday (February 4).
A brief moment has caused viewers to savor both the iconic band and the superheroes. The superhero duo Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm pose poses that could pass for one from one of The Beatles’ early TV appearances, which many fans still treasure.
A fan even posted a side-by-side comparison with the Fab Four’s performance, gushing: “The Beatles homage man oh my goddddd”. Some speculate the reference goes deeper than just the visual similarity, hinting at the shared “Fab Four” moniker.
Many people are holding out hope for a purposeful link, even though some critics believe the connection is a stretch. One supporter hit back with: “For all of you saying it’s a stretch, The Beatles were called the” Fab 4 “which is why this a funny reference. it’s not a stretch”.
Another questioned the set’s exclusivity, asking, “Was that set a Beatles thing or did The Ed Sullivan Show use it for other acts as well”? Some viewers suggested that the reference to The Beatles was purely coincidental, with one commenting: “This is a bit of a stretch”.
However, others were delighted by the stage design once they realised it was a nod to John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. One fan confessed: “As a huge Beatles fan I’m embarrassed I didn’t catch this”. Another added: “Whoa! I didn’t pick that one up! I appreciate you pointing out that.
Some fans even made a joke reference to a previous Marvel film, Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness, which briefly made mention of the Fantastic Four.
Benedict Cumberbatch’s character, Doctor Strange, quipped that they “charted in the 60s” when asked about the Fantastic Four. One viewer said, “Wait, didn’t the director or cast mention the Beatles having some aspects present. Because that’s a pretty good idea”.
Another viewer praised the set design, stating: “That set design was amazing back then”. Not everyone was impressed with the stage design, however, with some criticising Marvel’s film-making style.
One viewer questioned: “Why is Marvel determined to have the worst cinematography possible”? Fans of comic books recalled a failed Fantastic Four film adaptation of the Beatles’ 1964 film A Hard Day’s Night.
Ant-Man’s director Peyton Reed confirmed in an interview that he had spent roughly a year developing a Fantastic Four screenplay with an approach similar to The Beatles’ “A Hard Day’s Night.”
He stated: “I developed it for about a year and we went through some different permutations and some different writers, but yes, one of the big ideas was a set-in-the-’60s thing that at the time was structurally gonna be basically like]The Beatles ‘] ‘ A Hard Day’s Night, ‘ where we were not going to even deal with the origin story”.
In July 2025, The Fantastic Four: First Steps will be released.
