Omar Barghouti is co-founder of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign, a grassroots Palestinian movement inspired by the South African anti-apartheid struggle.

Omar, one of the most well-known Palestinian rights activists, is well-known internationally for his advocacy. He was honored with the Gandhi Peace Prize in 2017 for his efforts.

Author and journalist Fatima Bhutto speaks to Omar about the history of Palestinian non-violent resistance, its legacy, and how effective it is defending Palestinian rights in the first interview from Al Jazeera’s new series Reframe.
