‘Disgusted’ Strictly fans call for Wynne Evans to be axed after vile sex joke
The inappropriate sexual remark made by Wynne Evans during the BBC live tour has left Strictly Come Dancing fans “disgusted.”
The 53-year-old Welsh singer used sexual language that appeared to offend others at a photocall event held for the tour’s launch in Birmingham. While Strictly travels, he appears with his dance partner Katya Jones, but BBC bosses have since reprimanded him.
The operatic TV advert star was at the photocall with the whole cast, including JB Gill, Tasha Ghouri, Montell Douglas, Shayne Ward and Jamie Borthwick, when he was recorded belting out: “Go Compare”, and then adding “Not too close to Jamie”.
Then, as his fellow dancer Janette did in a circulating Daily Mail video, Evans used the devilish term “spit roast” to refer to the lewd sexual act.
The GoCompare actor could be seen smirking in self-consciousness after making the sexual joke, but fans are now calling for him to be fired from the tour.
Audience members who saw the most recent Strictly tour show in Glasgow expressed disgust with Evans’vile joke. Speaking to Mail Online after the latest show, one crowd-goer said: “We’re disgusted he’s said something like that. It’s completely inappropriate. When I watch him this evening, I’ll feel completely different. It’s very ungentlemanly, I would say, and totally inappropriate. Has he got a daughter? I don’t know.
“I am aware of what I would feel if one of my children received that statement, or if my husband was convicted of doing that. I definitely would be dropping him from the show, “they added.
Another audience member echoed:” I do like Wynne but that is not appropriate. Why Strictly is still putting him on, I don’t understand why. For that reason, I would have taken him off the stage. It’s their reputation. It’s not his reputation. It’s their reputation at stake. “
Evans addressed audience members at the Glasgow Hydro and claimed he had not had the best day, but that he had demonstrated that he could keep up with the choreographed routines.
The Strictly star apologised and acknowledged using inappropriate language after the video was made public. In a statement to the Mirror, Wynne Evans said:” My language was inappropriate and unacceptable for which I sincerely apologise. “
In the wake of the incident, the BBC revealed that they had warned Evans about his behaviour. We were not previously informed of the remark, according to a Strictly Live Tour and BBC Studios spokesperson. We have made it very clear to Wynne that we will not tolerate such conduct on the tour.

This is in response to the uproar the GoCompare advert actor caused while posing on Strictly with his professional dance partner Katya, whom some viewers perceived as a grope.
She was seen removing his hand as they stood in front of the cameras during the incident. However, both Wynne and Katya refuted the accusations as a” silly inside joke. “
