Disagreements In NASS During Lokpobiri’s Budget Defence

Sensational and House Representatives members of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources’ 2025 budget defense session sparked a new uprising at the National Assembly.

The disruption took place on Friday during Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, the minister of state for petroleum (Gas), and the Minister of State for Petroleum (Oil), who gave a presentation. Ekperikpe Ekpo.

The lawmakers reacted to the lack of budget documents in advance.

One lawmaker directly confronted the Minister of State for Petroleum (Gas), outraged.

Amid the heated atmosphere, Lokpobiri apologised for the mix-up, emphasising that the delay was unintentional and assuring the committee of the ministry’s respect for the National Assembly.

Ekpo emphasized the commitment of the Federal Government to reducing petroleum sector explosions and promoting the use of compressed natural gas (CNG) as a cleaner energy source during the presentation.

He made it known that the federal government had distributed 222 billion to six businesses to help with mid- and downstream infrastructure development, with the goal of spreading CNG throughout the country.

The proposed 2025 budget for the Ministry of Petroleum Resources stands at ₦4.25 billion, with allocations for personnel, overhead, and capital expenditures.
