Diddy launches huge lawsuit after ‘bombshell celebrity sex tape’ claims
Rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has filed a lawsuit amidst claims a witness allegedly has videos of him abusing celebrities and children.
The disgraced music mogul is currently behind bars at the ruthless Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, where he is awaiting trial after being charged with sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, transportation and engaging in prostitution. The rapper, 55, is expected to be locked up until his trial kicks off on May 5, 2025.
Outside of the criminal charges he is facing, Combs has been sued by several people who have brought civil actions claiming he subjected them to physical or sexual abuse, including his former girlfriend, R& B singer Cassie. Combs has strongly denied all allegations.
Combs has named Nexstar Media Inc, music manager Courtney Burgess and his attorney, Ariel Mitchell, claiming that they had been “fabricating outlandish claims and stirring up baseless speculation. ” In the lawsuit filed on Wednesday in New York, Diddy claimed that the trio had been spewing “wild lies and conspiracy theories. ” He demands a sum of $50,000 in damages for the claims.
Last year, Burgess was summoned to testify against Diddy and claimed he had videos on several flash drives allegedly showing Diddy’s alleged sex tapes. It’s alleged that the footage includes male and female celebrities, as well as minors. Burgess claims that he had given the tapes to Kim Porter, the late actress and mother of Diddy’s children.
In the lawsuit, obtained by the Mirror, it states: “Defendant Burgess falsely claimed that he possessed videos of Mr. Combs involved in the sexual assault of celebrities and minors. Burgess repeated this false claim many times to anyone who would listen, including reporters for major news outlets (includingNewsNation, which recklessly repeated and amplified his lies as if they were true).
“Thus, Burgess’s baseless lies were rebroadcast on social and traditional media platforms that reach millions of viewers in the United States and abroad. ” Ms Mitchell who represents Burgess told NewsNation that she could “verify” that a video exists and contains that the male celebrity was “more high profile” than Diddy.
She added: “There’s no question of if it’s that person in the video”. The lawsuit continued: “His attorney, Mitchell, repeated those lies. Like Burgess, Mitchell knew that her client’s claims were false, or at a minimum was utterly reckless in disregarding their falsity. Because no such tapes exist, and because Mitchell never saw any video depicting Mr. Combs sexually abusing anyone, adult or minor, Mitchell’s many false assertions that Burgess possessed such videos were either knowingly blatant falsehoods or recklessly false statements made as the direct result of Mitchell’s inexcusable failure to investigate her client’s outrageous lies.
“Burgess peddled his false and defamatory statements about Mr. Combs to promote himself on social media. Mitchell did the same. Both seek to capitalise on the resulting publicity for financial gain. ” The filing explains that scandal-hit Diddy has “became famous for his extraordinary and historic achievements as a musician and music producer, hip hop impresario, record label owner, fashion innovator and icon, pathbreaking spirits entrepreneur and committed philanthropist. Mr. Combs is among the most accomplished businessmen of his generation. “
It went on to explain that in September 2024, he entered a plea of not guilty to the charges he faced and is currently preparing to contest the government’s evidence at trial. “Mr Combs has faith in the integrity of the judicial system and is confident the jury will acquit him,” it adds.
It’s stated in the documents that the allegations published by the Defendants caused “substantial repetitional and financial harm to Plaintiff, and damaged his right to a fair trial on the government’s charges against him. ” It adds that the Defendants published the statements without privilege to a third party, before adding that the Defendants published the claims with “actual malice”. “Defendants published these statements with knowledge of their falsity or reckless regard for their veracity. “
In a statement shared with the Mirror, Diddy’s attorney Erica Wolff said: “Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is taking a stand against the malicious falsehoods that have been fabricated and amplified by individuals seeking to profit at his expense. These defendants have willfully fabricated and disseminated outrageous lies with reckless disregard for the truth. Their falsehoods have poisoned public perception and contaminated the jury pool. This complaint should serve as a warning that such intentional falsehoods, which undermine Mr. Combs’s right to a fair trial, will no longer be tolerated. “
Speaking to TMZ, Ariel said: “This is just a pathetic ploy to silence victims and people who stand up for victims. Diddy has time to sue but refuses to accept service for the lawsuits already filed against him. I look forward to countersuing and ensuring the court punishes not only Diddy but also his lawyers who filed this pathetic lawsuit for this frivolous and meritless filing. “
Courtney Burgess and Ariel Mitchell were not immediately available to comment.
