David Hasselhoff’s ex-wife’s devastating explanation for divorcing Baywatch star

Pamela Bach, the ex wife of Baywatch legend David Hasselhoff, previously shared the emotional and painful reasons behind their divorce.

The actress was found dead at her home after family “hadn’t heard from her in days”. She was discovered to have passed away in her Los Angeles home on Wednesday. It’s reported that family members went to check on her after not hearing from her and called police around 10pm. TMZ reports Pamela died by suicide but did not leave a note.

Pamela previously revealed how alcohol played a central role in the breakdown of her marriage to David. “Everybody thought (David) was the golden star in swimming trunks on the beach with Pamela Anderson, but the drink was taking over his life”, she told the Daily Mail. Pamela described her husband as a man whose battle with alcohol had begun to take a devastating toll. “To me, he was the man who fell over on the bedroom floor”, she said, painting a heartbreaking picture of the private struggles they faced.

Pamela also spoke about how she viewed David’s addiction. “He has a disease, just like cancer”, she said. “And just like cancer, it ate away at our family from the inside”. Despite her deep love for David, the toll his addiction took on their relationship was undeniable. Pamela confessed: “I always believed in happy Hollywood endings, but our story doesn’t have one”.

She admitted that both of them had been living a lie, but the most painful truth of all was that David’s love for alcohol had overshadowed everything else. “We were both living a lie, but the biggest tragedy was that David loved the bottle more than me”, she shared, reflecting on the emotional pain of their divorce and the devastating impact it had on their family life.

David is an American actor, singer, and producer best known for his roles in the iconic TV shows Knight Rider and Baywatch. In Knight Rider, he played Michael Knight, a crime-fighter who teams up with a high-tech, talking car named KITT, which became a staple of 80s pop culture. He later gained worldwide fame as Mitch Buchannon, the lifeguard in Baywatch, a series that became a global phenomenon. David filed for divorce from Pamela in 2006. The couple had been married for 16 years before their separation.

David and Pamela have two daughters together, Taylor-Ann, 34, and Hayley, 32. Following their divorce, they both got custody of one daughter. In response to the tragic death of his ex-wife, David shared with TMZ: “Our family is deeply saddened by the recent passing of Pamela Hasselhoff. We are grateful for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time but we kindly request privacy as we grieve and navigate through this challenging time”.

Pamela had appeared on hit series Baywatch for 10 years as cafe owner Kaye Morgan. She also featured on shows such as Knight Rider, Cheers, The Fall Guy, TJ Hooker and the Young and the Restless. It was on the set of Knight Rider that Pamela met David.
