David Dickinson’s life with famous grandchildren who have also appeared on huge BBC show
His grandchildren have also seen television, and presenter David Dickinson is just one famous face in his family.
The cherished ex-presenter of Bargain Hunt and a staple on British television, has enjoyed a long career gracing our screens with shows like ITV’s Dickinson’s Real Deal, The David Dickinson Show, and David Dickinson’s Name Your Price. He and Lorne Lesley are happily married to international cabaret performer Lorne Lesley, and their romance story began in a 1960s club and eventually led to their 1968 union.
On his website, Dickinson gushes about his wife: “Lorne is half African and half Welsh and hails from Tiger Bay, just like Shirley Bassey. She has more talent in her little finger than I do in my entire body, and she is very glamorous and a lovely, striking woman. The couple have two children, Robert and Katrina, whom Dickinson adopted from Lesley’s previous marriage.
Now in their fifties, Robert and Katrina have given Dickinson and Lesley the joy of being grandparents to four grandchildren – Aim’ee, Lauren, Myles, and Finley. The boys even had a moment to appear on ITV’s Little Star with Big Star. Further, Myles made an impression on Dragons’ Den with his business pitch, which stirred up a resounding roar among the Dragons.
Sara Davies, intrigued by his entrepreneurial spirit, questioned if it was due to upbringing or genetics, leading Myles to reveal that his dad “runs a business” and his grandad is “on TV”, reports the Express. When the dragons learned about the entrepreneur’s relationship with David Dickinson, which led to Myles’ disclosure of his plan to create bespoke credit cards, the dragons were intrigued.
Steven Bartlett couldn’t hide his enthusiasm, admitting: “I’m a sucker for this stuff. Because Revolut always have a personalized card, I’ve already purchased all of them whenever I want to buy them, I’m the target customer for this kind of thing. Peter Jones offered to pay the same price for the 35 percent equity because he believed he could “take Myles’ business to a great level.”
Touker Suleyman reassured Myles, saying: “Time is what you’re going to get for me”. Peter Jones boasted: “Nobody has mentored, helped and assisted more young people in Britain than me”. However, Steven won the deal when he said, “I’m going to go one step further and let you work in my office with me and my team.” I am the guy for this business”.
Steven proposed £35, 000 for a 35 percent stake as well, which Myles eagerly accepted, excited to start their new venture together. Dickinson is related to only Jack Whitehall, who is also a famous face. While attending a funeral, the comedian learned about their familial connection.
While not blood-related, Jack is second cousins with David’s wife of more than 50 years, Lorné. A clearly perplexed Jack revealed the unanticipated connection during a 2020 appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show, saying, “David is married to one of my second cousins. I saw him at a funeral, over the other side of the grave”.
