Dame Joan Collins has shared an update on retired actor Michael Caine just days after his birthday. They reunited for celebrations with their respective partners recently and fans have complimented them over a photo from the gathering.

Michael, 92, and his wife Shakira Caine, 78, joined Joan, 91, at Lucio Restaurant in London. The reunion also included Joan’s husband Percy Gibson, 60, her rarely-seen brother Bill Collins, 78, and her sister-in-law Hazel Collins. The three couples have been out together several times before, with actor Joan and Michael having been friends for years.

Dynasty star Joan gave a glimpse into their latest reunion in a post on Instagram earlier this week. She shared a photo of the group at their table and said they had a “wonderful” time together. She uploaded the post on Thursday, less than a week after Michael’s birthday last week on March 14.

Michael, who is well-known for movies like The Italian Job (1969), was pictured seated next to his wife Shakira and friend Hazel while wearing a black shirt and a matching jacket. Joan was seen wearing a glittering jacket and a black top while seated behind them, along with her brother Bill and husband Percy.

Joan made fun of their laughter while dining together in the accompanying caption. She described it as “a wonderful #reunion @luciorestaurant with Michael and Shakira Caine, sister in law Hazel, brother Bill, and of course #ahubby – great food, great atmosphere, and #lorralorralaughs” (p.

In the platform’s comments section, there was a response to the post. “So lovely to see Sir Michael,” one person said. Another remarked, “Good to see you and Michael out and about again. Looks like he would enjoy some post-birthday festivities. I’m delighted to see you all together, wrote a third person. God’s blessings.

Someone else said, “You all look fantastic.” “Fabulous,” a second fan said. Michael appears fantastic. One person responded to the post by saying, “Great photo. You look incredible, and Michael Caine is always a pleasure to see you.

Joan and Michael have known each other for years after having both launched their acting careers in the 1950s. They have enjoyed decade-long careers and acclaim, though Michael announced his retirement back in 2023.

He shared the news following the release of his film the Great Escaper (2023), in which he played the lead role of Bernard Jordan. Michael, who starred alongside Glenda Jackson in the film, suggested it would be his last role.

Whilst promoting the film in an interview on BBC Radio 4’s Today, he said two years ago: “I kept saying I’m going to retire. Well I am now. Because I’ve figured, I’ve had a picture [where] I’ve played the lead and it’s got incredible reviews.”

Michael – who previously expressed disappointment over having not won an Oscar in the lead actor category – said: “The only parts I’m liable to get now are old men, 90-year-old men. Or maybe 85. I thought, I might as well leave with all this. I’ve got wonderful reviews. What am I gonna do to beat this?”

Joan continues to act. Her upcoming projects include portraying the late Wallis Simpson in a new biopic about her final years. Her involvement in the project, titled the Bitter End, was announced earlier this year ahead of filming.
