Customs Not Privy To Details Of $3.2bn Modernisation Project – CG

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has admitted that it was not aware of specifics of the $3.2 trillion in customs modernization project that the nation would fund.
Adewale Adeniyi, the Customs Controller General, made this disclosure on Wednesday in front of the Senate Joint Committee on Finance, who was represented by Mba Musa.
Musa informed the lawmakers that Nigeria Customs was not privy to the specifics of the modernization agreement, despite the Committee’s requests for clarification regarding the federal government’-signed agreement on modernizing Nigerian customs.
The Nigeria Customs Service modernization project, also known as e-customs, was approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) in April 2023 despite a court order prohibiting the federal government from continuing the initiative.
