Crude Oil Theft: NSCDC To Absorb More Volunteers

Ahmed Audi, the commander general of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), claims that the Corps will recruit more volunteers to help the country’s most crucial national assets and infrastructure be properly protected.

Audi claimed that the Corps needs more personnel to fulfill its statutory duties, including those relating to the prevention of crude oil theft and disaster management, with 63 000 personnel.

The Rivers State Command’s NSCDC Commandant General, who was speaking in Port Harcourt while on a working visit, asserts that he is still committed to restoring the Corps’ status as a top-notch elite organization.

He claimed that the Corps’s trust is so high that the government and the populace must justify its existence by performing its statutory duties.

Abubakar Audi said, “The duty that the government assigned to us is very enormous, herculean, and tasking. It’s difficult to provide safety and security for important national assets and infrastructure. Our number is small compared to the map we created, which shows that the various categories of assets and critical infrastructure are very large. We are just 63, 000 so it is not easy”.

He continued, “We have nationwide, mostly in the Niger Delta, over 1, 881 vandalization spots where bad guys went to puncture pipes and are siphoning oil,” even from the vandalization of pipelines. So, if you want to assign how many people to each, even the CG will go to the pipeline to guard it.

The NSCDC stated that “the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure must be given utmost priority because this is what we are paid for, and your unwavering commitment is required without compromising.” The crucial assets that make up our nation’s economy must be protected from economic saboteurs.
