Court Remands Suspects In Custody Over Rivers DPO’s Murder

Some suspects in custody were charged on Friday at the State High Court meeting in Port Harcourt, the state capital, following the horrifying murder of Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ahoada Division in Rivers State on September 8. &nbsp ,

Mr. Cassidy Ikegbidi, the former head of the Ahoada East Local Government Area, and more than 50 other suspects were among those charged.

Among the accusations were kidnapping, cultism, attempted murder, and murder.

The prosecution’s attorney argued that the defendants could not be bailed at first appearance due to the seriousness of the charges when their case was called, despite the defense attorneys’ efforts to convince the court to grant bail to their clients.

Sika Henry Apirioku, the presiding judge, ordered their remand at the Port Harcourt Correctional Center after hearing from both parties. &nbsp ,

For a plea and bail consideration, he postponed the case until November 21, 2023.
